ZELDA MONTH

17 Zelda Games. One Streamer. Chat Has the Power.

Throughout November, I'm attempting to beat as many Zelda games as possible, starting with my absolute favorite: Majora's Mask.

Sounds simple enough, right?

WRONG.

Because throughout the month, YOU can use donations or Twitch Bits to unlock additional games, force me to switch what I'm playing, add extra collectibles I have to find, restrict how I travel, and generally make this entire experience significantly more miserable.

I'm trying to beat Zelda games. You're trying to make that difficult.

Welcome to Zelda Month.

HOW DOES THIS WORK?

We begin with just one game: Majora's Mask.

As event contributions come in, additional Zelda games are unlocked in the order of my personal ranking, starting with my favorites and gradually working toward the ones I like considerably less.

Unlocking a game adds it to the rotation. It doesn't force me to start playing it immediately.

That's where you come in.

You can force me to switch games, add mandatory playtime, require extra collectibles, or purchase challenges unique to the game I'm playing.

Once I beat a game's final boss AND satisfy its collectible requirements, that game is officially completed and leaves the rotation.

How many Zelda games will I finish before November ends?

That's largely up to you.

THE MAIN INCENTIVES

Random Game Switch — $25 (Crowdfunded)

Contribute toward a $25 goal that forces me to switch to a randomly selected unlocked game.

You don't need to cover the full $25 yourself. Multiple viewers can contribute toward the same switch.

The randomly selected game will always be different from the one I'm currently playing.

Choose My Game — $45.62

Want more control?

For one donation of exactly $45.62, you can choose which unlocked, unfinished Zelda game I have to play next.

Yes, the price is weird. There's a reason for that.

You're Not Going Anywhere! — $10

Add 10 minutes to the mandatory playtime of whatever Zelda game I'm currently locked into.

Every paid game switch adds 30 minutes of mandatory playtime to its destination game.

If I get switched away before completing that time, the remaining minutes are saved. Once the newer game obligations are cleared, I have to return and finish what I owe.

And if you switch me to a game that already has outstanding time? Another 30 minutes gets added.

You can stack these extensions as much as you want.

If no mandatory game timer is active, this incentive is unavailable.

Hold Up There, Jethro — $10

For every $10, add 10 minutes during which I'm forbidden from using optional fast travel, mounts, and movement-speed boosts.

That includes things like Epona, the Bunny Hood, warp songs, teleportation, and similar shortcuts.

The restriction follows me between games and can be stacked indefinitely.

If a movement ability is necessary to progress, I'm allowed to use it for that purpose.

Completion Debt — Prices Vary

Want to make me work harder before finishing a game?

You can pay to increase the number of collectibles I must obtain.

Gold Skulltulas, Pieces of Heart, Poe Souls, masks, Secret Seashells, and more!

Every qualifying purchase increases that game's requirements. Collectibles I find normally count toward the total.

Completion Debt can be purchased for any unlocked, unfinished game, even if I'm not currently playing it.

No game counts as officially completed until its Completion Debt is satisfied.

Overly Specific — $15

Every Zelda game has its own unique $15 incentive.

These aren't necessarily sensible. They aren't necessarily helpful.

Sometimes you can make me play a minigame. Sometimes you can force me into a ridiculous detour. Sometimes you can just pay me to go talk to a giant fish.

Special collectible rules

Majora's Mask: All masks count except the Deku, Goron, Zora, and Fierce Deity masks. Giant's Mask counts. The maximum requirement is 20 masks.

Wind Waker: Treasure Chart requirements only involve obtaining the charts. Salvaging treasure is a separate incentive.

Twilight Princess: The Cave of Ordeals is special. Each purchase adds one floor to the required depth. I'll attempt the cave only once near the end of the playthrough. You can add more floors before or during that attempt, but once I've cleared the deepest required floor, the incentive permanently closes.

Collectible requirements can never exceed what the game actually allows.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

You can participate using either StreamElements tips or Twitch Bits.

StreamElements: Donate here

Twitch Bits: Cheer in Twitch chat and specify which Zelda Month incentive you'd like to purchase.

For event purposes, 100 Bits counts as $1 of contribution credit.

Because the incentive system is managed manually, please include the game and incentive you want in your message.

For example:

  • Mweep — Ocarina of Time

  • 3 Gold Skulltulas — Ocarina of Time

  • Jethro — 20 minutes

  • Random game switch contribution — $10

You can combine multiple incentives in one contribution. Please make the breakdown clear, and check that the total covers everything requested.

Ordinary tips and Cheers are always appreciated, but they don't automatically count toward Zelda Month unless you indicate that they're intended for the event.

All qualifying event contributions also advance the global game-unlock progression.

Some incentives may be temporarily unavailable depending on game progress or the current rotation. Check with me before purchasing something you're unsure about.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why are you playing multiple Zelda games at once?

Because apparently I don't love myself.

Seriously though, the idea is to see how many Zelda games I can beat while chat constantly interferes with my progress.

What happens if you get switched to another game before your timer expires?

The remaining mandatory playtime is saved for the game I left.

The new game gets another 30 minutes added to its timer. Once that obligation is finished, I return to the most recently interrupted game that still has outstanding time.

This continues until I've cleared all mandatory playtime.

Can I donate to a game you're not currently playing?

Yes! As long as that game has been unlocked and isn't officially completed, you can add Completion Debt to it.

Can multiple people contribute to a random game switch?

Absolutely. The random switch goal is crowdfunded, and contributions accumulate until the $25 target is reached.

Can I extend a timer repeatedly?

Yes. Both Jethro and You're Not Going Anywhere! have unlimited stacking.

What happens if you beat a game's final boss?

The final boss encounter is protected from game-switch interruptions.

Once the boss is defeated, any queued switches can proceed. However, the game doesn't count as officially finished until all outstanding Completion Debt is satisfied.

Can I request an incentive that isn't currently available?

Some incentives depend on game progression. If the required activity isn't accessible, it may be temporarily unavailable.

Please ask before contributing toward an unavailable incentive.

Does every tip or Cheer count?

No. Only contributions specifically intended for Zelda Month are added to the event totals. You're welcome to support the stream normally without activating an incentive.

What happens if you complete all 17 Zelda games?

I don't think that's going to be our biggest problem.

READY TO MAKE MY LIFE MISERABLE?

Check the current incentives, pick your poison, and let the chaos begin.
